I recently had a chance to sample some Detour Activity Bars. One of their marketing reps sent out a nice selection including the following flavors:
Runner - chocolate chip cookie, 12 g protein, 200 calories. The Detour Runner bar has an ingredient called MicroLactin, a naturally occurring substance derived from milk proteins that has been shown to help improve joint health.
Core Strength - caramel peanut, 15 g protein, 200 calories.
Biker - raspberry dark chocolate, 12 g protein, 190 calories. The Detour Biker bar contains rhodiola, a naturally occurring substance that comes from a high-altitude plant (indigenous to Europe and Asia) and enhances muscle energy stamina during periods of peak physical stress and speeds cardiovascular and muscle recovery time.
Yoga - blueberry acai, 11 g protein, 170 calories. The Detour Yoga bar has 100 percent of the effective daily level of lemon balm for improved calmness (also desirable for Pilates and martial arts, which require a balance between calm and focus).
Lower Sugar - caramel peanut deluxe, 30 g protein, 340 calories. This bar is also available in a smaller size, which contains 15 g protein and 170 calories.

Bike Diva's Opinion
The runner, yoga and biker Detour Activity Bars are similar to a Rice Krispie bar. They have a light, crispy texture and were very tasty. Although the core strength and lower sugar bars were flavorful, I didn't care for their dense texture. Those two bars remind me of a typical high protein bar. I much prefer the crispy treat varieties. I will definitely look for Detour Activity Bars the next time I am out shopping.
I see that there is also a toffee almond flavor of the biker bar. I sure wish they had sent me some of the Detour toffee almond biker bars to sample! My stomach can be a bit sensitive in the morning, and sometimes I have a hard time eating breakfast in the morning before heading out for long bike rides. But I have no problem nibbling on a Detour Activity Bar on my way to my morning rides.
