Polar Introduces the RS800CX Training Management System for Multisport Endurance Athletes
Advanced Capabilities Now Include GPS Mapping via Google Earth and Compatibility with Polar's Range of Running, Cycling and GPS Sensors
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Polar (
www.polarusa.com), the leader in heart rate monitoring and fitness assessment technology, today introduced the RS800CX, the most advanced and versatile training management system for competitive endurance athletes and the growing multisport market.
The RS800CX offers athletes an elevated level of training insight by recording GPS mapping information, and then displaying the route through Polar ProTrainer 5(TM) software on Google Earth or any common GPS mapping software. In addition, the RS800CX offers compatibility with Polar's range of W.I.N.D. running, cycling and GPS sensors, enabling endurance athletes to track speed, distance and a wide range of performance details across any terrain or sport. This versatility makes the RS800CX a completely customizable training computer, as athletes can select the Polar sensor that best meets their training needs.
The robust, all-in-one RS800CX training computer also makes it easier to track multisport training, during and after the workout. For sports such as triathlon, where an athlete shifts from biking to running, the RS800CX allows the user to change the speed setting in real-time from miles per hour (mph) to minutes per mile (pace), providing the athlete with the right data for the right sport. Multi-sport workouts can also be combined into one file, providing a holistic view of training. This means that performance and heart rate data for sports ranging from kayaking, skiing, hiking and in-line skating can now be planned, monitored and analyzed with the same training computer an athlete would use for running or cycling.
"
Polar is well known for providing athletes with state-of-the-art training computers that help them to set goals and train at the right intensity, all while listening to their bodies," said Jeff Padovan, President of Polar Inc. "
With the RS800CX, we listened closely to our customers, and designed the ultimate multisport system that helps them perform at a higher level in their sport, while letting them also bring other sports into their training regimen. They can start with the set that's designed for their specific sport and then add on accessories that allow them to pursue their other athletic endeavors with the same enthusiasm and accuracy."
Each RS800CX training computer is compatible with select Polar GPS, running, and cycling sensors, and includes a WearLink+ W.I.N.D. transmitter and Polar ProTrainer 5 software. When paired with the appropriate sensor, the RS800CX is also available in MULTI, RUN, and BIKE sets, allowing athletes to select one that best matches their training needs. With the RS800CX training computer as the core of this training management system, the detailed capabilities and retail pricing for each set is as follows:
-- RS800CX ($419.95) - includes training computer, Polar WearLink+
W.I.N.D. transmitter, Polar ProTrainer 5 software, and IrDA USB
Adapter. The RS800CX combines training session data from different
sporting activities into one file, and also includes Interval Trainer,
a feature that creates personalized workouts using heart rate, timing
guidance, and speed and distance that are available with optional
sensory accessories. In addition, the Polar Fitness Test using
OwnIndex can help users find their baseline fitness level in just five
minutes.
-- RS800CX MULTI ($499.95) - includes everything that comes with the base
CX set and adds the Polar G3 GPS sensor to accurately measure speed,
distance and route tracking information. GPS maps can be viewed on
Google Earth through Polar ProTrainer 5 software, and are color-coded
for heart rate zones, enabling athletes to see the relationship
between their performance and terrain.
-- RS800CX RUN ($499.95) - builds from everything included with the base
CX set and adds the Polar s3 stride sensor to monitor advanced running
metrics like cadence and stride length, as well as speed and distance.
It also provides a range of personal training zones to train at the
right intensity level, and tracks a user's progress using Running
Index, a feature that calculates efficiency by correlating heart rate
and pace.
-- RS800CX BIKE ($449.95) - also builds from everything included with the
base CX set and adds the Polar CS speed sensor W.I.N.D., which allows
users to effectively plan and analyze every detail of their ride.
Cyclists can see their route profile and total miles climbed with
altitude, ascent and descent features, and can also view uphill or
downhill steepness in percent grades for more efficient training. The
Polar CS cadence sensor W.I.N.D. can be purchased separately for
additional performance tracking.
Polar ProTrainer 5 software, which comes with all RS800CX sets, gives users a completely customized, deeper understanding of their training by using graphs that bring to life data such as heart rate, speed, distance, cadence, duration, elevation and other performance metrics. Users are guided to train properly through a 5-step process of planning, training, uploading/downloading data, analyzing, and following their progress. Heart rate data is also color-coded for easy reference, tracking, and goal-setting.
