Just checking to see who else out there uses
Twitter? Twitter is a social media site that lets you share tips, hints and blog posts, in 140 words or less, with other Twitterers.
I use
Twitter Feed, along with my Twitter account, to automatically post a link to all of my blog posts that I make on the
Bike Diva and
Charity Mile websites. Since tweets have to be under 140 words, a link is included which takes readers to the complete blog post. I also post live tweets throughout the day, such as "I just got back from a 40 mile road bike ride" or "Just went for a 6 mile night run", or "Time to make a pot of coffee and dive into it.
On Twitter you can start following other Twitterers that interest you. I get an email anytime someone new follows me on Twitter. I usually click on the link to their Twitter account, and unless they are tweeting about something really boring, I usually follow them in return.
Lance Armstrong has a Twitter account. He posts up many tweets each day, on his training, kids and life in general. I follow Lance, but he doesn't follow too many people in return. That's generally considered rude in the Twitter universe, but he has a lot of followerers, so that would probably be a bit overwhelming to follow us all. Another Twitter no-no is outright advertising. It's okay to tweet about your business from time to time, but if your tweets start to read like ad copy, your followers will probably get bored or annoyed, and stop following you.
Tweets on Twitter can be sent through mobile texting, instant messaging or through the web.
My Twitter screen name is
thebikediva, who'd have guessed that? Do you Twitter? What's your Twitter screen name?
Take care,
Lynn Smythe AKA the Bike Diva
