Linda Armstrong Kelly and Dr. Robert Galvin Keynote URAC 10th Annual Quality Summit
Mother of Cycling Champion and General Electric Chief Medical Officer Join Health Care Leaders to Address Consumer Health Value
WASHINGTON, May 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- URAC, the leading
health care accreditation and education organization, has announced
Linda Armstrong Kelly, author, advocate and mother of cycling champion
Lance Armstrong; and Robert Galvin, MD, Executive Director of Health
Services and Chief Medical Officer for General Electric Company will be
the keynote speakers at URAC's 10th Annual Quality Summit and Exhibit
on October 7-8, 2009 at the Hilton El Conquistador Resort in Tucson,
AZ. The conference attracts some of the nation's most powerful thought
leaders and industry experts.
"The Quality Summit is one of the best opportunities for health care
professionals to interact with their peers and with industry thought
leaders to learn best practices and improve their own organizations,"
said Alan P. Spielman, president and CEO of URAC. "With the dual focus
of recognizing individual excellence in health care and enhancing
health value for consumers, this year's Quality Summit is poised to be
our best ever."
As the opening keynote speaker, Ms. Armstrong Kelly will tell her
personal story of how her early life experiences helped form the values
and positive attitude that both she and Lance carried forward into
adulthood. She will also share excerpts from her best-selling book, No
Mountain High Enough: Raising Lance, Raising Me. In his address, Dr.
Galvin will discuss health care reform from an employer's perspective,
offering insights on employers' struggles to determine whether reform
alternatives will leave their company and their employees better off
than the current system.
The URAC Quality Summit encapsulates the evolving need to nurture
innovation within organizations, with an aim to inspire participants to
surge ahead in pursuit of higher quality and creative approaches. This
theme will be highlighted by the first annual Health Care Stars!
Awards, which will honor health care professionals who directly impact
the lives of consumers they serve. Nominations for these awards are
still being accepted at http://www.urac.org/stars.asp.
In addition, this year's event will feature presentations from
award-winning companies that were recognized earlier this year at the
2009 Best Practices in Health Care Consumer Empowerment and Protection
Awards Conference.
