Wounded Soldiers Cycle New York
NEW YORK, July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Soldier Ride is a program of
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) that provides key rehabilitation
opportunities for this generation of wounded warriors and raises public
awareness for those who have been injured while fighting overseas.
Wounded Warrior Project is a non-profit organization whose mission
is to honor and empower wounded warriors. WWP offers services and
programs like benefits and career counseling, advocacy initiatives, and
combat stress seminars to aid in the transition from hospital bed to an
independent, productive life. All participants with a disability or
missing a limb or limbs are provided the adaptive equipment they need

Thursday, July 23:
-- 9:30am: Kick-off ceremony at Macy's Herald Square. Actor Matthew
Modine will be present and riding with the group.
-- Riding goes from Macy's to Central Park then down West Side Highway.
-- After a lunch at the South Street Seaport, riders continue to
Brooklyn. Riders will be the guests of honor at a Block Party located
at 7001 18th Avenue (corner of 70th St. and 18th Ave.)
Friday, July 24:
-- 9:00am: The event begins at Babylon Town Hall and continues to
Overlook Beach. For ride route or to register visit,

-- 6 pm: Wounded warrior participants will be the guests of honor at the
second annual "Wounded Warrior Appreciation Day in Ocean Beach." The
event is hosted by the Ocean Beach Fire Department. For tickets or

Saturday, July 25:
-- 8:00-10:00am registration: Warriors will ride as part of the second
annual Hamptons fundraiser ride. For more information, ride routes or
to register please see empirestatechallenge.org. This event is
dedicated to the memory of Lance Corporal Jordan Haerter, USMC, of Sag
Harbor. Jordan was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for valor in
Iraq. Members of Jordan's platoon from the 1/9 Marines at Camp Lejeune
will participate in the ride.
-- Dan Aykroyd will be joining the soldiers for the East Hampton Ride. He
will also be appearing as a special musical guest that night at the
Rock The Farm event being held at John's Lane Farm in East Hampton.
